Look up, stand straight, stay positive.

With all that life throws at you it can be a challenge to stay positive. Yesterday I moved a certain way, heard and felt two crunch sounds in my left, mid-back area. I immediately stopped what I was doing and have been able to get a handle on the situation. This kind of injury happens more and more it seems. I play tennis 2-3 times a week, stretch daily and try to stay active. All necessary to keep up my momentum of work and a healthy, active life. Right?!

Daily habits of sitting upright and working on improving my posture, something I have been aware of is helpful now as I am trying to heal quickly. I use my computer and paint at a table so sitting quite a bit with a pillow behind my back, a reminder to sit up straight. In my studio I am mostly standing on rubber padding on concrete flooring. I stand at my two work stations: One, a table that is roughly 38” high and the other Vertical Panels leaning against a wall. So standing all the time and moving which seems more ideal for back issues providing one is aware of their posture, takes breaks and stretches.

What is my point? It’s all about self-care and it is crucial for healthy longevity. Staying positive mentally when you have a sudden injury is a new challenge. But looking at the bright side, nothing is broken and it’s a warning to slow down and pay attention to your body. So let’s break and enjoy a sunset.
